This is the most important point in the book: creative-formative-productive energy (IMPACTS energy) creates or enables the development of a structure, which forms a controlling nucleus. This nucleus then captures (accretes) the creative-formative-productive energy (CFPE) as the primary source of energy for ongoing operation of the structure, including innovation, maintenance, and improvement. The CFPE (IMPACTS energy) becomes the embedded change agent for the structure.
Think of a mother and her role in the developing structure of the family. She is creative, formative, and productive–she is having children and building a nucleated structure called the nuclear family. Care of the children requires innovation. Plus, she is working to maintain and improve the structure, and she can change it significantly with another birth. In addition, she is extremely protective of what she has created–her children and family. This is the same general model for a successful entrepreneur and just about any kind of organization.
