Photosynthesis

Sunday, April 26th, 2009 by Dickey Eason

The same processes are at work throughout the universe. Basically, it comes down to this—one force is producing energy and another force is taking the energy produced and using it for its own ends, and sometimes those ends are not what we would call positive. On one end of a spectrum we have selfless energy production. On the other end we have “selfish” use of the energy produced.

Autotrophs like green plants can make their own food. Heterotrophs like us cannot make our own food—we depend on autotrophs for our survival or we eat other heterotrophs. All living organisms have to have a supply of energy—you either produce it or you accrete it.

The same is true among human beings. The IMPACTS are the autotrophs—they produce the energy upon which the rest of humanity depends.

When you look at a binary star system where one star is dying and accreting matter and energy from the other, healthier star, it is the same process at work. If you don’t produce energy, you must accrete it from another entity or else you “die”.

Countries behave exactly the same way. International politics is actually the game of accretion—how can a country corral the energy-producing-IMPACTS and the natural resources that they can develop? Strip away all the wars and militaries and diplomats and that is what it is all about—getting a significant share of the IMPACTS and natural resources.

The Wolf Pack

Sunday, April 26th, 2009 by Dickey Eason

Human beings have missed one variable in their study of human behavior. That one variable is that the human genome has embedded within it a template very similar to that of a wolf pack.

Over millions of years nature has designed different roles for wolves and embedded those roles within the genome. There is an alpha role—the alpha couple runs the pack. There is a beta role—the betas are the glue that holds the pack together. There is an omega role—the omega receives tons of abuse from the others and is expected to be subservient. And then there is the rest of the pack, each wolf vying for its own space in the hierarchy. These roles have developed in response to an environment of limited resources.

Roles can change—an omega can run off and form its own pack, becoming an alpha. But it appears that some wolves are born more suited to specific roles.

Human beings are no different. We have the same setup. We just don’t want to see it for what it is. We prefer to put a bow on it and call it civilization. It makes us feel better and smarter. But it is exactly the same as the wolf pack with minor variations.

Capture

Sunday, April 26th, 2009 by Dickey Eason

The process that enables our existence and the existence of almost all living organisms on earth, photosynthesis, begins with the “capture” of energy, in this case from the sun. This capture sets in motion the production of food (sugars)—stored energy—which can be used to perform work.

The process actually began in the universe, it appears, 380,000 years after the Big Bang when protons captured electrons to form atoms. The proton captured the energy-producer and the process of energy production and capture had begun.

On up the ladder the process continued. The early one-celled photosynthesizers such as cyanobacteria were captured as more complex life forms developed, either as food or to perform the photosynthetic process for them. Chloroplasts in plants are essentially captured cyanobacteria, adapted to a different environment but performing the same role that they did 3.5 billion years ago.

Male-Female

Saturday, April 25th, 2009 by Dickey Eason

The anti-status-quo force–the IMPACTS force—is the female force. Think of what the female does with each birth—she changes the status-quo. Nurturing is also part of the process—it strengthens bonds which are necessary to the functioning of any group, and it produces innovation.

The goal of the status-quo forces is to capture the innovative, anti-status-quo “female” forces, tame them, and make them part of the status-quo. This process has been going on in the human world since the advent of agriculture, and for billions of years in the greater universe.

The status-quo forces, which are mostly male forces, are in control of our world. That may sound like a superfluous statement but it is important in this respect—in order to understand human society and civilization, we must see clearly that there are two very discernible forces at work, the generally male status-quo and the generally female anti-status-quo. We need to view human society the way we view the atom—an entity composed of two major forces, each very different from the other.

The status-quo forces are also the dispersal forces. Dispersal follows the 2nd Law of Thermodynamics which says that energy disperses if not hindered from doing so. That is why we have such a violent world—the male, status-quo, dispersal forces are in charge. Before agriculture arrived on the scene, it was pretty much the opposite—female forces in control and little strife among people.

So the dispersal forces are the ones who are in control and who are writing history, setting agendas, and analyzing society for us. We really need to understand that—the dispersal forces are directing human civilization. The IMPACTS are working like crazy to hold it together—and a struggle it is.

That is why everyone, especially IMPACTS, should be very suspicious of any opinion or policy or anything else emanating from the “powers-that-be”. In today’s world, the powers-that-be are dispersal forces. One quick look around the world should confirm that statement.

How do the anti-dispersal forces, the IMPACTS, gain more control, or if nothing else, more input?

We’ll talk more about that as we go.

The Hydrogen Atom and Its Brain

Friday, April 24th, 2009 by Dickey Eason

When you look at the hydrogen atom with its one proton and one electron, which one appears to be the “brain”?

In the hydrogen atom, though the positive and negative charges are balanced, the electron is out of balance. Electrons want to be paired and it is alone. Therefore when it has an opportunity, it will bond with another electron, usually another valence electron of another atom, not necessarily a hydrogen atom. So the electron solves the problem in the hydrogen atom—it sees the imbalance and takes actions to solve it. And it does so from the peripheral location. One part of the atom, the proton, is fine with the static nature—the other, the electron, is not.

The human brain or any other brain is a problem-solving mechanism. It tries to figure out how to deal with the interaction between itself, its organism, and the environment. You will note that the human brain is on the periphery of the human body also, just as the electron is on the periphery of the atom.

Extending the argument further, human society and civilization require a problem-solving “brain” also. And again, this brain is found on the periphery. It is the group that I named the IMPACTS. Society has to pull in these IMPACTS brains if it is to function satisfactorily.

It is no accident of course that our brain is an electro-chemical entity. That is what we would expect since the electron in the hydrogen atom was the early problem-solver in the universe.

Going Against the Flow

Thursday, April 23rd, 2009 by Dickey Eason

We can really divide the world into two groups—those who go with the flow and those who go against it. The first group adheres to the 2nd Law of Thermodynamics which says that energy wants to disperse and the second group tries to violate the 2nd Law, keeping energy bonded and concentrated—literally going against the flow. IMPACTS will usually be found at the critical points where inaction would be critical; inaction could allow the bonds to be broken with unpleasant results.

Let’s look at some examples. An emergency room nurse is going against the flow. So is an entrepreneur. So too a hospice volunteer. Likewise, a special needs teacher and a disaster relief volunteer. Also a home-schooling couple.

The 2nd Law is an accretion force—it sucks energy away from concentration—when not hindered from doing so. The 2nd Law violators create, form, and produce in an attempt to prevent dispersal. In human society, the SN or structural-nucleus is the accretion force, the 2nd Law adherent, and the IMPACTS are the creative-formative-productive force, the 2nd Law violators. They hold everything together and keep humanity from coming apart at the seams.

A good question to ask when trying to ascertain the character of a person, organization, business, or country is this—Does this entity accrete or does it create, form, and produce? The IMPACTS accrete very little—they create and produce. The SN accretes almost totally.

Look at countries. Of course, all countries are “pulling-inward”. They are all accreting to a substantial degree but some more so than others. Accretion can only occur if a substantial IMPACTS element is aiding it. The accretive force cannot create—it can only take.

Look at men and women. Men are accreters in the familial sense—they cannot create humans. They can only accrete. Women are the creators—they hold humanity together in a myriad of ways. Generally the creative-formative-productive force also becomes the improvement-change-development force, and that is usually the case with families as the mother assumes the creative role and usually the major developmental role as well. She generally creates the bonds and keeps them intact as well. But of course we all know of exceptions.

Accretion is a male force—creative-formative-production is a female force. It is true across the universe. Protons are male—electrons are female.

Confused? It is a new way of thinking about the world and the universe. It will take some time to untangle the old paradigm.

Too good to be true?

Wednesday, April 22nd, 2009 by Dickey Eason

What have human beings always been searching for? They have been searching for a reliable guide as to how and why human civilization works as it does. Can the study of human civilization and human society be reduced to a science?

YES!! And this is not hyperbole either. I think you will see that I have discovered the underlying template, and that it is exactly the same template as that of what we call the physical world. They are behaving exactly the same!

Too good to be true?

That question is an example of the influence of the structural-nucleus or SN of society. The SN and the IMPACTS are the two major forces. The SN is controlling the present environment though that has only been the case for the past 5,000 to 10,000 years. Before agriculture and its dramatic influence on the way that humans live and interact, the IMPACTS ran the world, and it was basically a peaceful world. Agriculture turned the world upside down.

The SN view limits potential. Interestingly, that is also what the 2nd Law of Thermodynamics says about energy in the physical world—it disperses away from concentration when not hindered from doing so. In other words, the 2nd Law reduces “potential”, or differences in concentration.

The IMPACTS view is the opposite. It tries to optimize potential, to prevent dispersal, to keep people together—and to see possibilities for all.

My deductions are all based on science and extensive research. It starts with a form of fanciful thinking and slowly gets reduced to scientific thinking. You have to be able to imagine the possibilities before you can find the real.

Denial

Wednesday, April 22nd, 2009 by Dickey Eason

The reason that we have a hard time understanding the universe is because we have not empirically looked at the behavior of human beings. If we do not understand ourselves first, we have no hope of understanding anything else.

We don’t look at ourselves because we don’t want to know what is really going on inside the bubble that has been created and maintained with such a large investment of time and energy over thousands of years. We do not want our precious bubble popped so we continue with our serious game of charades.

I try to dismantle the onion layer by layer until we are forced to see ourselves the way we really are—bundles of energy behaving exactly like the smallest atom.

We are playing a game with ourselves—we are in denial. But that is not an indictment in any way. We are in denial because we don’t presently know the true dynamics involved. That is the reason for this material—to help make human beings aware of what is driving our behavior.

The Violators of Dispersal

Wednesday, April 22nd, 2009 by Dickey Eason

You will hear me say this again and again—the world that we see exists in every way because of the 2nd Law of Thermodynamics. The 2nd Law says that energy disperses if not hindered from doing so. So obviously we see a lot of “stuff” held together by something. That something is chemical bonds, and those bonds are due to the actions of the electrons. So the electrons are keeping us from flying apart.

The same dynamic exists in human society and civilization. The predominant dynamic is towards dispersal as it is in the rest of the universe. Some elements—the IMPACTS—work hard to keep human society and human beings from drifting further and further apart. The IMPACTS are the violators of the 2nd Law. And it would not be a total exaggeration to say that they are imprisoned in their efforts, though captured might be a better description.

That is why the IMPACTS have to work so hard in their everyday lives—they are working against the primary force in the universe, the dispersal of energy.

The anti-dispersal force is the female force basically. Of course men have it to a degree also, some men more than others. Think about the actions of mothers and fathers who try to hold families together. They are working against the law of dispersal. But they know that ultimately their children will leave and the laws of the universe will be followed. They will violate the 2nd Law as long as possible in order to prepare their children for the reality that awaits them, a world with tenuous bonds—a world with dispersal tendencies.

So you can see that LOVE is the ultimate violator of the 2nd Law and why we grieve when love dies and when death comes to the ones we love. The law of dispersal wins in the end but we try to stave it off as long as possible.

Everything is as it is because of the 2nd Law. There is the predominant tendency towards dispersal and there is another force that works hard to violate that tendency. That force is the IMPACTS force and it appears to me to originate within the electron.

The Two Forces

Sunday, April 19th, 2009 by Dickey Eason

There are two major forces in the world—the IMPACTS and the SN—and they are the same major forces that exist in the universe at large. The IMPACTS are generally about peace and positive change and justice and the SN is usually about power and control and money, which is just another form of power and control. We are all an amalgam of these two major forces with some of us leaning distinctly to the IMPACTS side and some of us leaning distinctly to the SN side. IMPACTS can experience real difficulties in the world because their energy is so different from SN energy. Sometimes avoidance is the only solution.

Civilization over the past 5,000-6,000 years is really the struggle between the two elements with the SN ultimately prevailing because its energy is a brute-force type of energy, often with diabolical aspects. It means to subdue and control. A quick look around the world confirms that there are many such examples.

IMPACTS are generally more flexible—the SN is often intransigent. IMPACTS reach out—the SN pulls inward.

The SN uses the innovation of the IMPACTS in order to exert power and control because the SN itself is capable of little innovation. SN entities have to take because they do not create.

It is an ongoing struggle, not only on the world scene but in our everyday lives as well. It is not easy. One reason I am putting this information on the web is to try to help people learn how to identify and deal with IMPACTS versus SN issues.

IMPACTS try to make positives out of “negatives”. But those are the conditions under which this human species was born along with the IMPACTS profile—the need to make something positive out of a negative, brutal, physical environment. We will find that turbulence produces stars in the galaxy and in humanity.

The simple hydrogen atom reveals what is really at work here. The proton has “captured” the electron but the electron will slip away and bond with other electron energy when possible, forming molecules in the process. That is the way it works in human civilization too—the IMPACTS form the molecules and the NEW. The SN tries to capture the innovative energy and what it produces.

If you understand the hydrogen atom, you will understand human civilization. It is that simple.
